FAITHFUL!!!

Hi everyone,

As you all know Angela & I are trying to qualify LIFEiLEAD as a nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status. We have been having a fund-raiser for 3 months. By the middle of June we had raised 66% of what we needed, we had $2,000 out of the $3,000. Since then there was silence, it felt as if we were stopping at $2,000. I started praying and asking God, to make it clear as day, if this was it! My prayer was, “Lord, we need $1,000 more, I am sending out the application soon and we need that last amount to cover several serious fees, so please touch someones heart to send us $1,000, God not $10 or $100 but $1000!” Amen. Then, I waited, something that God does, it’s His timing that is perfect never mine. That was my prayer for these last several weeks.

I went to the post office yesterday morning and checked LIFEiLEAD’s PO Box, there was one envelope and guess what? Yes, 1 check for $1000!!! Praise God!!! I have been without an income for almost 3 years, I put in anywhere between 50 to 60 hours a week with how I help people and meet with people and my doctoral studies. My prayer is 1st accomplishing a nonprofit, 2nd enough finances that can be poured back into the community to help those who are suffering and hurting, and 3rd a simple salary as CEO of LIFEiLEAD.

I want to thank all those who have participated in giving. There are still some significant financial needs so if anyone feels led to give please feel free to give, any amount is welcomed, soon we will be able to offer a tax receipt for any donations, please go to this link for more details  http://lifeilead.com/donate/

The application to VIP Law Works (a nonprofit that helps individuals incorporate their services as a non-profit) has been finally submitted as of Thursday July 19!! Within the next two weeks I will hear back from them. Please keep us in your prayers that this organization may see favor in what we want to accomplish for the community and for those who are suffering, therefore helping us through this process of incorporating LIFEiLEAD with 501(c)(3) status, all pro bono.

Who is this woman? But first a quick thought…

Hi everyone and sorry for such a long delay in between my blog posts. This summer has been more intense than anticipated. The paperwork is done and ready to submit to a non-profit law firm who will be helping us incorporate LIFEiLEAD as a nonprofit pro bono, finally!! I will know if we qualify within the next 2 to 3 weeks. As for my school work I made a serious error this last assignment that will affect my gpa, but I know full well that the big picture is not my gpa, it is graduating. I look at my diploma of my Masters Degree and I do not see my gpa on it. I have 10 days left of this summer course (Strategic Foresight) and then I have 25 days off. With only 2 semesters left before beginning my Final Project (aka Dissertation) I am coming around the turn and I can see the finish line coming up soon. I have been in school all year around since 2007 and in school all together since 2003, I am ready for no more school! This summer has been challenging to say the least but this is only the beginning. The most amazing woman who I know (which I will be writing about next) Angela, my wife, is right here by my side, supporting me, helping me and including her self in projects that I can not do on my own, I am truly blessed, but who is she?

Going back to Fall of 2003 after Angela and I got to know each other I knew, I knew she was the one. I remember hearing others say this about their wives and I would laugh or mock that notion of “I knew.” How? How does someone “KNOW?” Well I do no think there is one true answer. Everyone’s experience is different, we are all unique in the way we fall in love. In Angela I saw a woman who was dedicated in living a Godly life. Some may read this and think, “You mean like a nun?” No not a nun but a woman who new (and still knows) our God in a deep relational way. Angela is a woman who knows what she wants out of life, she knew her identity in Christ, and the confidence from that just shines. We went to school together and we worked/managed the Café (Student Center) together. I saw a woman who took charge of that Café whose integrity was at a level of excellence. I saw the way she interacted with others and how everyone just adored her. Angela shines the best when she is in her “servant-leader” mode. She has a giving heart. Our relationship, in the beginning (and it still is today) very unique. What I mean by that is the fact that I was not your average College student coming out of high school. I was coming out of TLC where I was nurtured and loved by others due to my 20 year addiction to cocaine and alcohol, and it took a very special woman to understand this! Angela & I spent many hours on the phone and in person discussing LIFE. Talking about what the other side of addiction called “recovery” looked like for me and for “us” as a couple. It was a relationship that was handled with care and gentleness on both sides. There is a mutual respect for many different reasons coming from both sides but the first and foremost reason was (is) the fact that Angela Loves the Lord. Angela never knew the “George” who used cocaine and drank vodka, Angela knows the New Creation in Christ. Today we are both leading/facilitating addiction groups and helping others. This is what I saw in her that very first time we spoke in September of 2003, our future. Next post I will talk about how I asked Angela to marry me!!!
